New presentation, new books, and movie update
November 2, 2011
Made it through the summer of kayaking on Vermont’s White River and in Cape Cod Bay in one piece. Now it’s time to turn my attention back to work.
I have a new presentation titled “Survive and Thrive: Lessons from those who have beat all odds”. In the past it was business groups and the military that were interested, but lately libraries have been booking the program. I think it’s because their are a lot of helpful tips on achieving difficult goals, decision-making, and surviving bumps in the road we all must face at one time or another.
On the movie front, The Finest Hours is still on track to be a Disney movie. I’ve met with the producer and the screenwriters (all of whom made the recent movie “The Fighter”). No idea of when the movie will be in theaters, but I’m guessing 2 – 3 years.
I’m doing one last survival book, titled A Storm Too Soon, to be released by Simon and Schuster. Am also writing “Derek’s Gift” about how a teenage boy’s bout with cancer touched so many lives. It will include some insights we could all use!
Until next time, wishing you happy reading!
Mike

I am THRILLED to hear that “Their Finest Hours” will become a full length movie and I am so looking forward to seeing it on the big screen. You write with such clarity that it will be easy for Disney producers to develop the screenplay.
The last time I heard you speak (In Providence,RI), you had asked us to help you select the title for “A Storm Too Soon” – I’m happy to say that was the title I loved best! I can’t wait to acquire a signed copy to go along with the rest of your books I have. (I am the one who has plastic dust jacket covers on all of your books Michael)/ Congratulations all around and please let me know when you’ll be in RI again with “A Storm Too Soon”.
Sincerely,
Jane
